First off I have to start out by saying, "Praise God and his timing!!!!"
After 18 months of waiting....our prayers have been answered and we are celebrating!
Here's the back story.
In October 2008, we took a step if faith regarding David's career path. He decided that he was done with the construction field and wanting to get into law enforcement, a life-long dream.
He faithfully turned in an application with the Sheriff's Office and quit his job. He had side jobs lined up for the next few months, the typical time period one would think for waiting for a response for a job. Not the case here. The Fall turned into the Winter and still nothing. In Jan/Feb. 2009 he got an interview and passed the extensive background tests. Meanwhile I continued to work part-time and David for friends and family.
At the beginning of March 2009 we got the news that the County didn't have the money to hire anyone else and the position he was applying for was going to be put on a 6 month hold. And then the economy tanked and layoffs were happening. What now? Lord---we thought we heard you pretty clearly that David was supposed to move on! Hmmm.....okay.
Plan B. David started applying for various jobs in the area. Even though they were hiring, no one was biting and he didn't get a job for a couple of months. In May of 2009 after a call to a connection he lined up a month long job with a construction company helping them out. It was a good to get him going again, but the hours were long and the commute to Albany left him pretty tired.
While working for the construction company he started looking into the field of Weatherization. (A career his Dad had retired from.) He went thru a 2 week training, applied for a job as a weather tech and got it here in Salem. (June 2009) So we were thinking, okay Lord this is a different path. The hours were good, the job was relatively easy, the pay was pretty good, no benefits. The company was thriving b/c of stimulus money and they had a 2 year wait limit of people needing assistance so there was definitely job security.
By then we had given up hope that the Sheriff's office was going to call and that dream was over. Opportunity done. Door closed.
October 2009 David gets a call from the Sheriff's Office asking if he was still interested in the position!??! WHAT?!?! We were both in shock. We took about a day to decide that we would take a leap of faith (again) from the current job to take a temporary position with the Sheriff's Office. No benefits, okay pay, no timeline of the duration of the job.
February 3, 2010 David has an interview for a permanent position with the Sheriff's Office.
March 4th, 2010 David is offered the position of Case Aide with Marion County Sheriff's Office.
May 2nd, 2010 David is officially hired on with permanent status!!!!
It has been a roller coaster of a ride at times for us. God is so good. Now the best part of all..... Going into this pregnancy we knew that we would have my insurance coverage. It's okay-but not that great. Remember how I talked about God's timing being so good?
Baby is supposed to be born (via C-section) on Thursday June 3rd, 2010.
David's new insurance coverage takes effect Tuesday June 1st, 2010. Praise God!!!!
God is so good and we feel so blessed! Thank you friends and family for all your prayers, words of encouragement, and faith as we journeyed thru this time! We love you!

I suppose that is why He tells us not to worry about tomorrow. Come what may, He's got us in the palm of His hand. It's fun to read this all typed up as a consolidated timeline. And, I can't wait for Brooklyn to get here!!
What a great Mother's Day gift. I know what a blessing it is to have dual insurance coverage for major medical things like having a baby. I pray that everything works out for you.
